Senior Program

Introducing NECYSC Senior Program!

This year, in addition to the normal NECYSC junior program, we are offering a senior program for campers entering 9th - 12th grade. This program was introduced for the first time in 2003 and was a great success. This is an overnight program only which will offer classes and activities geared toward older campers.

Campers will be offered an array of classes they can choose from during the day such as Acupuncture, Chinese Art and Architecture, Taiwan/China Straits Conflict: History and Current Events, Fung Shui, Chinese Medicine, Stick Fighting, Chinese Dance, Asian Fables and Fairy Tales, Asian-Americans in Film, and Asian-Americans in Business. These are just a sampling of classes that were taught or may be taught during the Senior Program.

Afternoon activities will be more hands-on such as Chinese Yo-Yo, Kung Fu/Self Defense, Chinese Games (Go, Chinese Chess, Mahjong), Chinese Cooking, Tai Chi, Chinese Arts and Crafts, Chinese Painting, and Chinese Knots as well as "traditional" camp activities.

Evening activities will be geared toward older campers with more of a chance to socialize and have fun such as an ice-cream social, a movie night, and a dance.

Note: Parents of Senior Program campers are required to serve parent duty once during the week. This is an evening shift where you will be asked to assist in administrative tasks and provide general supervision for the camp. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us: SeniorProgram@necysc.org
